on economic resilience, global stability, and freedom of navigation.
During her first official visit to India as Foreign Secretary, Ms Cooper will hold talks with Dr Jaishankar in New Delhi on 4 June. Discussions will focus on advancing collaboration between the UK and India to address the impact of global conflicts, safeguard international trade routes, and promote a stable and secure international environment.
The visit underscores the UK Government’s commitment to India as a key strategic partner and follows Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle’s recent visit aimed at accelerating implementation of the landmark UK-India Free Trade Agreement.
The Foreign Secretary and External Affairs Minister will conduct the annual review of progress under Vision 2035, the long-term framework guiding UK-India cooperation. The review will assess achievements to date and set priorities for the coming year across economic growth, technology and innovation, defence and security, climate action, and education.
Lindy Cameron, British High Commissioner to India, said: “The UK-India partnership is an important source of stability in an increasingly uncertain world. Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper’s first visit to India in her current role provides a valuable opportunity to deepen cooperation and build on the strong momentum in our relationship.
“Since our Prime Ministers unveiled their shared vision for a modern UK-India partnership, we have expanded collaboration across areas that matter most to both countries.
“From the Technology Security Initiative, which is helping shape the technologies of the future, to our landmark Free Trade Agreement that will make trade faster, easier and more accessible, the UK-India partnership is delivering tangible benefits for people and businesses in both nations.”
During her visit, the Foreign Secretary will highlight new Indian investment opportunities under the Technology Security Initiative. She will meet entrepreneurs working at the forefront of AI-enabled healthcare innovation and participate in a British Council programme showcasing how UK-India partnerships in education, skills and economic growth are producing practical outcomes for both countries.
The UK-India relationship has reached new heights since Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled Vision 2035, setting out an ambitious roadmap for deeper cooperation.
