British Queen celebrates

Prince Harry made a surprise trip to Kyiv today after being invited by Superhumans, an organization helping Ukrainians who’ve suffered life-changing injuries in the war.

The Duke of Sussex said his goal is simple: to do “everything possible” to support wounded soldiers and civilians on their road to recovery.

Harry arrived in Ukraine’s capital by train early Friday and is expected to have a packed schedule, though official details of his visit will only come out later. According to The Guardian, he’s set to announce new rehabilitation initiatives during the trip.

This isn’t his first connection with Superhumans. Back in April, he visited their rehabilitation center in Lviv. But it’s his first time in Kyiv since Russia launched its full-scale invasion, which has left tens of thousands of Ukrainians—both military and civilian—facing amputations and long-term injuries.

Harry’s trip is closely tied to his work with the Invictus Games, which he founded in 2014 to give wounded veterans a chance to compete in sports. Ukraine was granted special permission by President Zelensky to join the games in 2022, just months after the war began. At that year’s opening ceremony, Harry declared that the world stood “united” with Ukraine.

This week’s visit also comes just after Harry and Meghan’s foundation, Archewell, announced a $500,000 donation to projects supporting injured children in Ukraine and Gaza. The funds will help with medical evacuations through the World Health Organization and the development of prosthetics for young survivors.

Harry’s stance mirrors broader support from the Royal Family. King Charles has hosted Zelensky in the UK and spoken out against Russia’s “indescribable aggression,” while Prince William recently met with Ukrainian refugees in Estonia, praising their resilience.

Notably, Harry’s stop in Kyiv follows a rare meeting with his father in London on Wednesday—their first in-person conversation since February. Photo by Haidamac, Wikimedia commons.
