Three children who went missing after a visit to Thorpe Park have been found safe in London. Fourteen-year-old Khandi, along with nine-year-old Amelia and
seven-year-old Malik, were reported missing at 7 PM on Monday after their trip to the Surrey theme park.
Surrey Police reported that the children had traveled from Surrey to Milton Keynes before being located in London.
Detective Superintendent Trevor Struthers of North Surrey expressed gratitude for the public and media support, stating, "We appreciate the concern that this incident caused, especially given the children’s ages and the fact that they were missing overnight. Our officers and staff have worked tirelessly to locate the three of them and we are all relieved that they have been found safe."
The children were seen on CCTV asking shop staff for directions to a nearby train station after leaving the park on Monday afternoon. Sam Williams, owner of House of Flowers in Chertsey, Surrey, observed the children in her shop and noted that Khandi seemed responsible and attentive to the younger children.
"The kids seemed fine, not distressed at all. She seemed like a responsible adult, she was watching one of them while they were wandering around the shop, she seemed to care about them," Williams told the PA news agency.
