Government official Kemi Badenoch has commenced a three-day working trip to Nigeria, aiming to strengthen the UK-Nigeria partnership. The visit builds upon previous
diplomatic engagements, including the former Foreign Secretary's trip to Nigeria in August 2023 and recent UK-Nigeria Security and Defence Talks.
During her time in Nigeria, Minister Badenoch, accompanied by Prime Minister's Trade Envoy Helen Grant, will engage with federal and state government officials, as well as leaders from both British and Nigerian business sectors. The agenda includes discussions on various investment and trade opportunities across sectors such as education, infrastructure, and energy, with the potential to generate employment opportunities.
The visit underscores the commitment to enhancing bilateral ties, facilitating trade and investment, and leveraging the City of London's role as an international business hub. British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, highlighted Nigeria's significance as a key partner in Africa and expressed optimism about the country's recent reforms fostering growth and attracting international investment.
