Prince Andrew, who had been reluctant to vacate the Windsor estate property, has reportedly reached an agreement with King Charles for an "indefinite" stay at the Royal Lodge.
The Mirror has revealed that the Duke of York has negotiated the terms with his brother, the monarch.
It is reported that the disgraced royal had a private meeting with the King during the summer at Balmoral, according to sources within the royal circle.
The arrangement appears to provide Prince Andrew with a "stay of execution" to secure the necessary funds for significant repairs required at the royal mansion. Estimates suggest that approximately £2 million is needed to address the maintenance issues at the four-bedroomed cottage.
During the summer, Prince Andrew had already contributed over £200,000 towards roof repairs at the property.
In recent months, King Charles and his brother had been embroiled in a dispute as the monarch had initially planned for Prince Andrew to relocate to the smaller Frogmore Cottage, while Prince Andrew declined the offer and remained at the Royal Lodge, which he continues to share with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, despite their divorce occurring 27 years ago. He has now been granted an extended stay. Photo by Thorne1983, Wikimedia commons.
