British police have arrested two men in connection with a suspected antisemitic arson attack that targeted Jewish community ambulances in north London earlier this week.
Authorities confirmed on Wednesday that the suspects, aged 47 and 45, were detained at separate locations in northwest London and central London. Both remain in police custody as investigations continue.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, when four ambulances belonging to a Jewish community service were deliberately set on fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The attack has drawn strong condemnation, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer describing it as a “deeply shocking antisemitic arson attack.”
Investigators are still working to determine the full circumstances behind the incident. Police have indicated that CCTV footage suggests at least three individuals may have been involved, pointing to the possibility of additional suspects.
Earlier, authorities had not ruled out a potential link to Iran, though no definitive conclusions have been announced. The investigation remains ongoing.
In response to the attack, police have increased their presence in affected areas of north London as a precautionary measure to reassure local residents and prevent further incidents.
The case comes amid growing concern in the UK over rising levels of antisemitism. Security officials have also warned of threats linked to foreign actors, including alleged surveillance or targeting of Jewish communities—claims that Tehran has consistently denied.
