The UK-led International Fund for Ukraine has now secured over £2 billion in military support, delivering thousands of drones, missiles, air defence systems, and radars to help Ukraine defend
itself against Russia’s ongoing invasion.
The announcement came as Defence Secretary John Healey hosted NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Ukraine’s Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal, and Germany’s Defence Minister Boris Pistorius in London for the 30th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group – a coalition of 50 nations coordinating military aid for Ukraine.
This milestone follows Healey’s fifth visit to Ukraine last week, where he chaired talks with the Coalition of the Willing in Kyiv. The Defence Secretary stressed that Russia’s intensifying strikes – including the heaviest wave of air attacks since the war began – are only strengthening international unity in support of Ukraine.
Defence Secretary, John Healey MP, said:
“Putin is escalating his attacks on Ukraine, so we must go further and go faster to surge vital military kit into the hands of Ukraine’s war fighters.
After my fifth visit to Ukraine last week, it was a pleasure to host Minister Shmyhal, Minister Pistorius, and NATO’s Secretary General at the Ministry of Defence in London for the 50-nation strong Ukraine Defence Contact Group. We see Putin’s aggression increasing, but this only strengthens our unity and our determination to step up military support for Ukraine.
This £2 billion funding milestone from the UK-led International Fund for Ukraine is symbolic of unity, with 11 countries working together with the UK to ensure Ukraine receives the urgent support it needs to fight today, while the countries of the Coalition of the Willing continue work towards securing a just and lasting peace in the future”.
What the fund has delivered so far
Through the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), coordinated by the UK Ministry of Defence, partner nations have already supplied:
- Over 1,000 air defence systems
- More than 600 drones and uncrewed aerial systems
- Electronic warfare systems and radars
- Tactical boats to boost Ukraine’s naval defences
- Artillery ammunition for frontline troops
More deliveries are expected in the coming weeks, including thousands of long-range one-way attack drones, designed and built in the UK, set to arrive over the next 12 months.
Wider European security
The support is part of a broader push to strengthen Europe’s security, limit economic instability, and reinforce the UK Government’s Plan for Change. Tomorrow, Healey will host Defence Ministers from France, Germany, Italy, and Poland for the next E5 meeting in London, where discussions will focus on Ukraine, European defence cooperation, and strengthening the continent’s defence industry.
International cooperation
The International Fund for Ukraine is backed by contributions from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Portugal, Sweden, and the UK.
