The John Lewis Partnership has received approval for its largest build-to-rent scheme, paving the way for nearly 430 new homes in West London. The development, which includes
83 affordable rental units, will be built in residential towers rising up to 20 storeys above a Waitrose supermarket in Ealing.
Despite strong objections from Ealing Council—primarily over the perceived shortfall in affordable housing—a government planning inspector has ruled in favour of the project. The approval follows an appeal submitted by John Lewis in summer 2024, citing the council’s failure to make a timely decision on the application.
