In 2023, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) allocated £10,000 to support the endeavors of 1000 Black Boys CIC, a social enterprise based in London, aiming to inspire and uplift young

black men and their families.

Through the SIA Grants for Good Causes fund, which distributes funds recuperated from proceeds of crime confiscation orders, the SIA extends support to registered charities and community interest companies across the UK, with the overarching goal of benefiting the private security industry and enhancing public safety nationwide.

The grant awarded to 1000 Black Boys CIC was pivotal in facilitating three impactful events and establishing two mentorship cohorts. These initiatives sought to address critical issues such as youth violence and knife crime, particularly affecting communities where young black men are disproportionately impacted.

One notable event funded by the grant was aimed at providing support to bereaved families affected by violence, offering them a platform to share their experiences and seek solace. Ademola Adeyeba, Founder and CEO of 1000 Black Boys CIC, emphasized the importance of creating spaces for healing and dialogue within affected communities.

Furthermore, the grant facilitated the development of a mentorship scheme tailored for young black men, providing them with invaluable support to enhance their self-confidence, communication skills, and public speaking abilities. Additionally, the grant enabled the organization to host Inspiration and Empowerment events, where attendees were exposed to motivational speakers, entrepreneurial insights, and networking opportunities. These events served as catalysts for personal and professional growth, instilling a sense of aspiration and empowerment among young participants.
