British Queen celebrates

Tesla's Model Y emerged as the best-selling car in the UK in June, contributing to the 11th consecutive month of growth in vehicle registrations. The surge in sales was partly driven by a

40% increase in the number of electric vehicles (EVs) on British roads.

However, industry leaders expressed concerns about the slow adoption of EVs among private buyers, highlighting that fleet and business purchases were the main drivers behind the growth in EV sales. Tesla's Model Y claimed the top spot in June, with over 5,500 registrations, due to the traditional end-of-quarter shipment arrival from Germany.

Despite the positive figures, industry experts called for greater consumer uptake of greener vehicles, suggesting the need for more incentives and measures to encourage private buyers to choose EVs. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) recommended actions such as reducing VAT on public EV charging to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles and help meet climate goals.
