British Queen celebrates

The UK government has confirmed it will continue imposing anti-dumping duties on ammonium nitrate imports from Russia, following a final recommendation from the

Trade Remedies Authority (TRA).

The decision, accepted by the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, means the existing trade measures will remain in place for another five years at current tariff levels.

Ammonium nitrate, widely used as an agricultural fertiliser and in industrial applications such as mining, is a key input for several UK sectors. However, the TRA’s review found that removing the duties would likely lead to a renewed surge of dumped imports from Russia, causing harm to domestic producers.

According to the investigation, both dumping and injury to the UK ammonium nitrate industry — which supports around 500 jobs — would be likely to recur if the measures were lifted. The authority also concluded that maintaining the duties serves the broader economic interests of the UK.

As a result, the TRA recommended extending the existing anti-dumping tariffs at current rates, which range from £24.085 to £27.374 per tonne, depending on the exporter. The government has now formally accepted that recommendation.
