Tony Danker, the CEO of one of the UK's largest business groups, has been dismissed from his position following an investigation into allegations of misconduct at work.
The investigation stemmed from complaints about Mr Danker's conduct towards a female employee, and he has been replaced by Rain Newton-Smith.
The CBI has also suspended three other employees pending further investigations into ongoing allegations. The group has stated that it is cooperating with the police and will fully assist any police investigations.
Mr Danker had previously stepped aside while the investigation was ongoing and had apologized, stating that any offense caused was unintentional. However, since then, new claims of sexual misconduct have emerged, including an allegation of rape at a summer boat party in 2019, involving CBI employees.
As a result, the CBI has postponed its events, and the Treasury has cut ties with the group. Robin Juste Emery, Wikimedia commons.
