Amidst a return to pre-pandemic marking standards, Jewish schools are emerging as beacons of success, bucking the trend of A-level grade deflation across the nation. These schools are
demonstrating exceptional performance, with more than half of their grades being A* or A.
The national scenario shows a decline in A and A* grades, accounting for 27.2% of all grades this year, in contrast to 35.9% last year. Nevertheless, Jewish schools are setting a different precedent. JFS, for instance, achieved an impressive 60% of A-level grades as A* or A, marking an increase of over 10% since 2019.
At Immanuel College, a prominent Jewish independent school, 57% of A-level grades attained were either A* or A. Noteworthy achievements include every Art & Design A-level candidate receiving an A* grade, and 62% of Economics candidates securing A or A* marks.
JCoSS reported that 52% of their total grades were A or A*, while Yavneh College and Hasmonean High School for Girls achieved 50% and 49.9% respectively. Hasmonean High School for girls marked a significant achievement, with one in five grades being an A*. Prominent figures like Nochi Zajac, who attained five A* grades, reflect the remarkable successes of these schools.
These achievements come despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. The schools not only demonstrate academic excellence but also emphasize values and character-building, creating well-rounded individuals who excel academically and personally. Photo by Philafrenzy, Wikimedia commons.
