A British couple's long-awaited holiday in Cyprus took an unexpected turn when they arrived at their resort to find it unrecognizable due to extensive construction works
taking place.
Helen Milner, 56, and her partner Anthony had planned a relaxing summer getaway to Paphos, Cyprus. However, upon their arrival, they were met with a scene of builders and heavy machinery right outside their supposed luxury hotel. The couple had booked the trip through Jet2, whose representative met them at the resort wearing a hard hat and a hi-vis vest.
Ms. Milner, a bank clerk, recounted their difficulties in navigating to and from the main entrance of the Basilica holiday resort due to the construction site dominating the local area. A video captured by Ms. Milner reveals the intricate maze of fencing that hotel guests were required to traverse to access the supposedly luxurious hotel.
The couple raised complaints with Jet2 about the unexpected construction outside the resort, asserting that the situation was far worse than previously indicated to them.
The video footage highlights the resort's gravel path, which was intended to serve as the primary route in and out of the premises. However, the walkway was occupied by builders, exposed cables, and large holes dug into the ground. Bare cables were haphazardly strewn across the area, far from an idyllic vacation view.
In response to the video and social media complaints, Jet2 has acknowledged the situation and stated that they are investigating the incident. Photo by dronepicr, Wikimedia commons.
