British Queen celebrates

Two individuals have been arrested after throwing powder paint onto Tower Bridge during the men's elite race at the 45th London Marathon.

The group Youth Demand claimed responsibility, stating that two of its supporters climbed over the barriers and threw the powder around 10:35 BST.

According to the Metropolitan Police, a member of the London Marathon staff quickly intervened, removing the protesters from the race route. The men's elite runners were able to continue without disruption shortly after.

Police noted that the paint appeared to be chalk-based and was not expected to pose any danger to runners still approaching the area.

The protesters were arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance and remain in custody. A photo shared by Youth Demand shows two individuals standing on the road wearing T-shirts reading, "Youth Demand: Stop Arming Israel." Photo by Nick Summers, Wikimedia commons.
