European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is set to meet with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer next week, as he continues his efforts to rebuild and
strengthen ties between the UK and the European Union. A European Commission spokesperson confirmed the meeting on Thursday but did not provide additional details.
Starmer, who has been vocal about his intentions to improve the UK-EU relationship, mentioned the upcoming meeting in a recent social media post.
"I want to reset our relationship with the EU and make Brexit work for the British people. Looking forward to visiting Brussels next week to start discussions with @VonderLeyen," Starmer wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Since becoming Prime Minister in July, Starmer has prioritized restoring relations with the EU, holding talks with key European leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, as part of a broader strategy to enhance post-Brexit cooperation.
