British Queen celebrates

Sweden has entered into a defence contract exceeding £100 million with British engineering firm Marshall, just months after joining NATO. This collaboration is part of

Sweden's rapid digital defence modernization initiative.

Marshall, headquartered in Cambridge, will design and produce "command and control" shelters, modular workspaces, and ancillary equipment for the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, a government agency under the Ministry of Defence. Production will be distributed across facilities in the UK and Canada.

According to a statement from Marshall, the company's systems will significantly enhance the operational resilience and survivability of the Swedish Armed Forces' critical infrastructure in various environments, including open, littoral, and urban operations.

"Following its formal NATO membership in March, Sweden is quickly advancing its digital defence modernization to integrate with alliance partners and boost the readiness of both its full-time and reserve forces," Marshall stated.

Over the next four years, with an option to extend for an additional three years, Marshall will deliver up to 500 shelters, along with ancillary equipment such as power units, battery boxes, and mast trailers.

Bob Baxter, Marshall's chief growth officer, emphasized that the contract leverages the company's engineering expertise. "We are proud to support Sweden’s investment in the readiness of its armed forces as it integrates into NATO, providing stability in a challenging geopolitical environment," Baxter said.
