Queen Camilla made a dazzling appearance at the Diplomatic Reception, wearing an exquisite aquamarine and diamond tiara previously worn by both Queen Elizabeth II and the Duchess of
Edinburgh. The tiara, featuring five large oval aquamarines surrounded by diamonds arranged in an elegant ribbon design, is a mysterious piece of royal jewelry. Its origins remain unknown, as historians have yet to determine its creator or the date of its creation. The tiara was first seen in 1970, when Queen Elizabeth II wore it during a royal tour of Canada.
The Duchess of Edinburgh notably donned this tiara for two royal weddings: in 2012 for the nuptials of Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg and in 2013 for Princess Madeleine of Sweden’s wedding. This marked the first occasion Queen Camilla chose the tiara, pairing it with her personal aquamarine and diamond necklace and drop earrings.
In addition to the tiara, Queen Camilla wore King Charles III’s Royal Family Order and the insignia of the Order of the Garter, adding further regal elegance to her ensemble.
The Diplomatic Reception, traditionally held in early December, was moved this year to accommodate the upcoming Qatari State Visit. This prestigious event brings together hundreds of diplomats at Buckingham Palace, where they meet the monarch in the State Rooms to celebrate their contributions to international relations.
King Charles was joined at the event by the Prince of Wales. However, the Princess of Wales, who recently completed chemotherapy earlier this autumn, was not in attendance. Photo by Agência Brasil, Wikimedia commons.
