What is a Recess?

A recess is a break during the 2024 parliamentary session when neither the House of Commons nor the House of Lords meets to conduct official business. During this time, MPs and Members of the House of Lords focus on their other duties.

The pattern of recesses can vary and is typically different for the two Houses of Parliament. Photo by UK Parliament, Wikimedia commons.
