British Queen celebrates

Londoners can enjoy free 30-minute rentals of Santander Cycles bikes on Sundays throughout June. After the initial 30 minutes, pedal bikes cost £1.65 and e-bikes cost

£3.30 for each additional half-hour. Transport for London (TfL) allows unlimited new rentals throughout the day as part of its Cycle Sundays scheme, aimed at encouraging more people to cycle in the capital.

Last year recorded the lowest level of bike hires in a decade, despite record usage in 2022. TfL recently surpassed one million hires and plans to add 1,400 e-bikes to its fleet later this summer.

David Eddington, head of cycle hire at TfL, highlighted the benefits of the scheme, saying: "TfL Cycle Sundays offers a range of leisure routes across London that are perfect for beginners looking to get into cycling. Cycling is not only brilliant for your mental and physical health, but also a great way to explore and see more of London." Photo by Tiia Monto, Wikimedia commons.
