British Queen celebrates

Former UK Prime Minister David Cameron's recent appearance on the BBC sparked public backlash as he addressed not only questions about the Greensill Capital scandal but also offered

conflicting views on Brexit.

Cameron, who initiated the Brexit referendum and resigned in its aftermath, has often been held responsible for the political turmoil and chaos that ensued. Despite campaigning for the Remain side, he failed to sway the majority of the public.

In a surprising twist during the interview with Laura Kuenssberg, Cameron, now appointed as Foreign Secretary by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, expressed conflicting sentiments, stating that he "hated leaving the EU" but believed that "leaving the trading bloc was the right thing to do."

When pressed about his shifting stance, Cameron attributed it to his current role in managing the UK's relationship with European leaders and the EU, suggesting that he has refrained from taking a definitive position since 2016.

The interview drew strong reactions from various quarters, with actor Alan Cumming, part of the show's panel, expressing concern over an unelected individual assuming control of foreign policy. Cumming described the situation as "terrifying" and questioned the suitability of Rishi Sunak as a strong leader. Photo by Christoph Scholz, Wikimedia commons.
