India is setting its sights on an ambitious lunar mission, with the goal of sending its astronauts to the Moon by 2040. This bold initiative, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is part of

India's expanding space program, which also includes plans for establishing a space station by 2035 and exploring missions to Venus and Mars.

This announcement comes on the heels of India's successful lunar endeavor when, in August, it became the first country to land a spacecraft on the Moon's south pole. This historic achievement showcased the nation's prowess in space exploration. Photo by 阿爾特斯, Wikimedia commons.
