Elon Musk's patience with Europe's recently introduced Digital Services Act (DSA), mandating social networks to combat disinformation and hate speech, is wearing thin. Reports from US media

suggest that Musk is mulling over the possibility of removing X (formerly known as Twitter) from the European Union.

Business Insider, citing an anonymous source within X, broke the news, indicating that Musk has held internal discussions about the potential exit from the European market. As of now, the entrepreneur himself has not officially commented on this development.

The European Commission has refrained from making an official statement on the matter. In recent days, X, along with Meta and TikTok, has faced scrutiny from European Commissioner Thierry Breton regarding their coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Failure to comply with the DSA could lead to substantial fines for these companies.

Additionally, Meta has temporarily suspended the use of its Threads application in Europe, citing the new digital legislation as the reason. Photo by Daniel Oberhaus, Wikimedia commons.
