Guernsey is offering jobseekers an enticing opportunity to embark on a career in social care through a newly launched scheme sponsored by the States.

The Pathway to Caring initiative, developed by Health and Social Care in collaboration with Employment and Social Security, invites individuals seeking either part-time or full-time employment to enroll in a free seven-week care training course.

Scheduled to commence on April 9th, the course aims to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge for roles in the care sector. Notably, there are no specific educational prerequisites for applicants, although they will undergo an enhanced DBS check as part of the application process.

Elaine Burgess, Director of Care Delivery, emphasized the scheme's potential, describing it as a "wonderful opportunity" for aspiring care professionals. She highlighted that successful candidates will gain access to flexible employment options and further training opportunities.

Moreover, Burgess expressed optimism about the scheme's impact, indicating plans to expand it with additional courses and placements across the entire care sector if the initial rollout proves successful.
