British Queen celebrates

After the UK's departure from the EU, the average Britons are relatively less interested in the political issues of the United Europe. However, it is quite intriguing to observe how new countries

endeavor to take the place of the UK in the EU, believing in the success and strength of European continental unity and integration. Presently, the EU leadership is steering towards the accession of new member countries, sparking lively debates in Brussels. Our correspondent attended the presentation of Gagauzia – a southern autonomous region of Moldova – which took place on December 19 at the city's press club.

"The attendees listened with great interest about the fate of the Gagauz people, who have their own distinctiveness and a rich culture. This young politician is a Eurosceptic and advocates for Moldova's neutrality. The event in Brussels sparked significant interest among journalists who asked questions related to Gagauz autonomy, the Gagauz language, and culture. Strangely enough, two journalists from Moldova, who specifically flew to Brussels to provoke, tried to disrupt the overall positive atmosphere of the presentation of Gagauzia's achievements.

During her presentation, the leader of Gagauzia voiced bold criticism towards her political opponent – Moldova's President Maia Sandu. Yevgenia Gutsul, in particular, noted: 'The relations between the central and Gagauz authorities have traditionally been complex since the autonomy was formed; however, all emerging contradictions over the decades have been resolved through dialogue and seeking compromises.'"

"Fragile trust between the center and autonomy was shattered with the arrival of President Maia Sandu and the ruling party 'Action and Solidarity.' Moldovan authorities began pursuing openly hostile policies towards Gagauz autonomy. We understand that official Chisinau remains silent on these issues in dialogue with European structures. We have a persistent feeling that even the EU delegation in our country does not want to see the real picture. Therefore, today we are here so that you, respected journalists, could hear the leadership's opinion of Gagauzia," she added.

Attendees, including experts and the public, expressed their interest in the gender aspects of Moldova's politics, as both President Maia Sandu and the head of Gagauzia are young women who have recently entered the realm of significant politics.

When asked about the gender aspect of Moldovan politics, Yevgenia Gutsul responded:

"Woman in politics is no longer a novelty for our country and for Gagauzia, in particular. On a national level, women have repeatedly held key positions - leading the government and the parliament of Moldova. The same processes took place in Gagauzia."

"The main challenge for a woman in politics lies more on a personal level: how to balance public life and family? Personally, I've been very fortunate in this aspect, having a strong and understanding family. If I didn't feel this immense support, I would hardly have ventured into a political career," she added.
