British Queen celebrates

Britain is set to impose a new entry ban on individuals who have significantly supported the Russian state or amassed their wealth through ties to the Kremlin. The measures, which will be

announced on Monday—marking three years since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine—aim to tighten existing sanctions on Russian elites.

According to the UK government, the ban will apply to those with access to the highest levels of Russia’s leadership, potentially including senior politicians, government officials, and business figures. These restrictions build on existing measures targeting individuals aiding Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war efforts.

British Security Minister Dan Jarvis delivered a clear message to Moscow, stating, "You are not welcome in the UK." He emphasized that the sanctions would block oligarchs who have profited at the expense of the Russian people while financing an "illegal and unjustifiable war."

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is scheduled to visit Washington on Thursday for discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the war in Ukraine. His trip follows that of French President Emmanuel Macron, who will meet with Trump at the White House on Monday.

Both European leaders are expected to urge Trump to avoid rushing into a ceasefire agreement with Putin that could undermine European involvement. They will also discuss security commitments and military support for Ukraine. Photo by NVO, Wikimedia commons.
