Katie Price was arrested at Heathrow Airport for failing to appear in court and has been taken into police custody. An arrest warrant was issued for the former model on July 30 after she did not
attend a hearing related to her bankruptcies.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 46-year-old woman was arrested at Heathrow at 19:45 BST. Ms. Price is expected to appear before a judge at the Royal Courts of Justice later on Friday.
Ms. Price was detained upon her return to the UK. Photos have surfaced showing her with bandages around her face near police vans at the airport. She was first declared bankrupt in November 2019, and again in March of this year.
In a February hearing, Ms. Price was ordered to pay 40% of her monthly income from the website OnlyFans for the next three years, related to her initial bankruptcy. Her second bankruptcy in March stemmed from an unpaid tax bill exceeding £750,000.
Insolvency and Companies Court Judge Catherine Burton had previously warned Ms. Price that she must attend the July 30 hearing. Ms. Price was scheduled to face questions about her finances from barristers representing the trustee of her two bankruptcies in the specialist bankruptcy court in London.
The judge had cautioned that Ms. Price risked arrest if she failed to attend future court dates and emphasized that she would need to provide evidence if she could not appear. However, it was reported that Ms. Price had traveled to Turkey instead.
Upon issuing the arrest warrant, Judge Burton noted that Ms. Price had offered no explanation for her absence and that the warrant was not issued "lightly." The judge further criticized Ms. Price for providing only "piecemeal cooperation" and failing to supply the "most basic information" regarding her bankruptcies.
