The number of Night Tube services after midnight may be increased, according to London Mayor Sadiq Khan. Transport for London (TfL) is examining the feasibility of
providing more frequent services during the busiest hours of the night.
Currently, the Night Tube operates on five of the Underground’s 11 lines: the Victoria, Jubilee, Central, Piccadilly, and Northern lines. Additionally, the London Overground offers night services on the former "East London line" between Highbury & Islington and New Cross Gate.
The Night Tube runs only on Friday and Saturday nights, with fewer trains than during the day. On most of the Night Tube network, trains arrive every 10 minutes, though this can vary from every seven or eight minutes on the Northern line to every 20 minutes on the outer sections of the Central line.
Despite the potential for increased frequency, City Hall has stated that there are no immediate plans to expand the Night Tube network to additional Underground lines. Photo by Elliott Brown from Birmingham, United Kingdom, Wikimedia commons.
