British Queen celebrates

Scotland's IV27 postcode, located in Tongue within the Highland region, has been recognized as one of the "coolest" places to live in the UK, according to a list

compiled by The Sunday Times. The publication consulted regional and national experts to identify the country's most desirable neighborhoods.

Tongue, situated on the far north coast of Scotland, offers a unique blend of outdoor activities and rich historical experiences. The area's remoteness adds to its allure, with coastal roads reminiscent of Scotland's own Route 66.

The renowned Lundies House, owned by conservationist Anders Povlsen, serves as a hub for exploring the surrounding landscapes. Guests can partake in activities such as paddleboarding and guided walks, or indulge in a "floral wellness" retreat at Kinloch, a former shooting lodge transformed by the Wildland conservation project.

History enthusiasts can explore Castle Varrich's ancient ruins before enjoying locally sourced cuisine at the Tongue Hotel. Nature lovers can explore Skinnet Beach and Skerray Beach, where brave surfers tackle the icy waters.

Additionally, The Portobello Pocket in Edinburgh was recognized as one of the UK's best "micro-neighbourhoods." Nestled between lush greenery and a two-mile coastline, Portobello offers a trendy suburban vibe with its charming Georgian terraces.

Visitors can experience Scotland's first matcha bar, MatchaMind, or browse tropical plants at Holly Grows. Book enthusiasts can explore Tills Bookshop for second-hand volumes before strolling along the seafront, where the Beach House bakery and ShrimpWreck's seafood menu await.
