Conservative MP Henry Smith has accused a group of peers in the House of Lords of attempting to obstruct his Hunting Trophies Bill from becoming law. The bill aims to
prohibit hunters from importing body parts of endangered species, like tusks, into Great Britain.
It received approval from MPs across different parties in the House of Commons but is facing challenges in the House of Lords. Smith asserts that a "very small minority" of peers are employing "parliamentary devices" to impede the bill's passage.
To become law, the bill must be approved by both the House of Commons and the House of Lords before the end of the parliamentary session on November 7. Failure to do so would require restarting the process in the new session. Photo: Myrabella / Wikimedia Commons / CC BY-SA 4.0
