Oxford has been crowned the top city in the UK for exploring on foot, according to research conducted by Preply, an online language lesson provider. The study revealed that it takes
approximately 2,310 steps to visit the city's top attractions.
The notable sites included in the walking exploration of Oxford are the Bodleian Library, Oxford University Museum of Natural History, Pitt Rivers Museum, Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology, and the halls of Oxford University.
The research utilized a reputable travel review site to identify the top five tourist attractions in each city based on customer ratings. For each city, the study analyzed the quickest walking route to visit all five attractions using Google Maps route planner, recording the distance and time required.
Following Oxford, Brighton secured the second position as a great city for walking exploration, while York claimed the third spot. On the other hand, Bath ranked the lowest, with visitors needing to walk more than 6.8 miles, equivalent to 14,280 steps, to reach its attractions.
