The UK government has updated its plan regarding the removal of European Union laws, stating that it will now amend the retained EU law (REUL) bill to specify the
laws it plans to revoke by the end of 2023, rather than removing all laws as previously planned.
While the government had previously indicated it would not extend the deadline, the amended bill will now propose revoking around 600 out of 4,000 retained EU laws, providing businesses with greater clarity.
Over 1,000 EU laws have already been reformed or revoked since the UK's departure from the bloc in 2020, and a financial services bill will revoke a further 500 pieces of retained law.
