British Queen celebrates

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has reported that British new car registrations have increased by over 10% in April 2023, marking the ninth consecutive monthly rise

compared to the previous year.

The preliminary data released on Thursday also revealed that the SMMT has raised its 2023 sales forecast to 1.83 million new car registrations, up from its previous prediction of 1.79 million units, due to the easing of supply chain disruptions.

However, the SMMT has revised its outlook for battery electric vehicles, anticipating they will make up approximately 18% of total sales for the year. The final figures for the month will be released by the SMMT at 0900 GMT. Photo by Mary and Angus Hogg, Wikimedia commons.
