In a thrilling Euro 2023 final, England U21 emerged victorious as they secured the championship title against Spain U21. The match reached a climax with a last-second penalty that Spain
failed to convert, thanks to an incredible double save by James Trafford, ending England's 39-year wait for the championship.
Following the victory, James Trafford spoke to Channel 4 and revealed that he had informed his friends earlier in the day that he would save a penalty.
"I told everyone this morning I was going to save a pen," he stated.
"I told all my mates back at home I was going to save one."
Expressing his joy, Trafford said, "I'm extremely happy for the team and the coaching staff. It was a tremendous effort, and we delivered. It was our goal, and we accomplished it. We are all very proud." Photo by Kevster, Wikimedia commons.
