British Queen celebrates

Thousands of households have a limited time left to apply for a £400 Government energy support bill, with the scheme set to close soon. This one-time non-repayable

payment aims to assist households that did not automatically receive the £400 energy rebate issued in October 2022.

The deadline for applications is May 31, 2023, and the scheme is open to residents living in park or care homes and other properties off the electric grid. Additionally, those who directly pay their landlord for energy on a commercial tariff can also claim support.

The Energy Support Scheme Alternative Funding is designed to provide relief to families facing the challenges of rising living costs. Eligible individuals can apply for the scheme through an online portal. Residents in England, Scotland, and Wales can use the government's online portal, while those in Northern Ireland have a separate application process.

The payment of £400 will benefit thousands of households, including those living on farms, houseboats, or mobile homes. Each household can submit only one application, and those who have already received the energy rebate are ineligible to apply.

To check eligibility, individuals can visit the gov.uk website or contact the Government's Contact Centre from Monday to Friday between 8 am and 6 pm. The application requires details such as email address, phone number, and bank information. Unregistered council tax payers need to provide proof of address during the application process.

For applicants residing in care homes, an invoice for care home fees or an official document from the care home must be submitted. Detailed information on how to apply and the payment schedule can be found on the government website.

The £400 payment will be processed based on the application submission date. Amanda Solloway, Minister at the Department for Energy and Security and Net Zero, urges eligible individuals to apply promptly through the secure channels provided. Acting quickly ensures timely assistance.

The Energy Support Scheme is just one of several government initiatives addressing the energy crisis. Additionally, households, including property guardians and those living in student accommodation, may be eligible for £200 as part of the Alternative Fuel Payment scheme, which also has a deadline of May 31, 2023.
