The UK Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing, and Communities, Michael Gove, recently visited the Jewish Learning Exchange (JLE) hub in Golders Green. During his
visit, Gove engaged with trustees, students, and young professionals associated with the center, gaining insight into the JLE's role in connecting young Jews with their heritage and the Jewish community.
Gove showed particular interest in the center's plans for expansion and upgrades. Following a tour of the JLE hub, he joined Rabbi Benjy Morgan, the CEO of JLE, for lunch along with other patrons and educational directors of the organization.
The discussion during this more informal setting focused on addressing apathy among young Jews toward their communities and how the JLE can play a role in combatting this issue by fostering greater social and educational engagement.
Gove's visit comes ahead of the JLE's annual gala dinner, set to take place on September 4th at the House of Lords and hosted by Lord Mendelsohn. The event will include parliamentary and international guests, and Gove is expected to speak at the occasion.
Reflecting on Gove's visit, Rabbi Benjy Morgan expressed gratitude and said, "His interest in our mission was inspiring. We look forward to continuing our efforts in fostering young leaders to make a positive impact on our community and the country as a whole." Photo by UK Government, Wikimedia commons.
