Former US President Bill Clinton made a public appearance in Oxford, catching the attention of onlookers as he strolled down Cornmarket Street on Friday (June 30). Dressed in a stylish blue
suit adorned with a Ukraine flag badge on his lapel, Clinton was surrounded by photographers and curious passers-by.
It is believed that Clinton's visit to Oxford is connected to the anniversary of the Rhodes Scholarship program, established in 1903. As a Rhodes Scholar himself, Clinton's ties to the prestigious scholarship program run deep. Although he attended University College in Oxford, he did not complete his degree, reportedly due to concerns about being drafted for the Vietnam War.
Nevertheless, in 1994, Clinton was honored with an honorary degree and fellowship from the university, recognizing his contributions and achievements. It is worth noting that Clinton's wife, Hillary Clinton, has also been bestowed with an honorary degree from Oxford University. Photo by Hayden Schiff from Cincinnati, USA, Wikimedia commons.
