As of the second quarter of 2023, there are substantial developments in the European hospitality industry, with a total of 1,715 hotels currently in the design or construction phase.

These projects equate to approximately 256,000 rooms being added to the region's accommodation inventory.

Leading this list at the close of the second quarter of 2023 is the United Kingdom, boasting 322 projects encompassing 45,181 rooms. Germany follows closely with 211 projects and 34,981 rooms, while France secures the third position with 132 projects and 14,869 rooms.

Portugal holds the fourth spot on this ranking, with an impressive count of 127 planned hotels that will contribute an additional 15,446 rooms to the nation's hospitality offerings. Turkey follows closely, ranking fifth in this European evaluation, with 107 projects that will bring forth 15,670 rooms.

When examining these developments on a city level, London takes the lead with 82 projects underway, translating to 14,767 rooms. Istanbul follows with 42 projects and 7,222 rooms.

Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal, secures the third place in terms of hotel projects with 37 establishments currently in the design or construction phase, set to provide 4,262 new rooms. Dublin follows closely with 32 projects encompassing 6,173 rooms. The German city of Düsseldorf rounds out the top five with 31 projects and 5,669 rooms in the pipeline.
