British Queen celebrates

The development of what will become Solomon Islands’ second International Airport in Munda, Western Province is making great progress.

That was according to the British High Commissioner to Solomon Islands and Nauru, His Excellency Thomas Coward after he visited Munda International Airport on Monday 17 July 2023.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is supporting the development of Munda airport through its contributions to the World Bank, who is undertaking this development in partnership with the government of Solomon Islands.

The UK is the third largest donor to the World Bank IDA fund and over quarter of the funding is provided by the 3 large donors: the US, Japan, and the UK.

The Munda International Airport will accelerate the international connectivity of the Munda-Noro corridor, supporting tourism and business. This important project is under the Solomon Islands Roads and Aviation Project (SIRAP).
