British Queen celebrates

As the Bank Holiday weekend unfolds, Britons can anticipate a blend of sunshine and unsettled weather, according to forecasts.

Sunny intervals are set to grace regions with temperatures ranging from 17°C to 20°C, while cloud-covered patches may see temperatures hover around 14°C or 15°C tomorrow.

However, Monday's forecast remains uncertain. A spokesperson from the Met Office remarked, "We're expecting a mixed outlook across the UK once again, predominantly featuring cloudy skies in the northern regions. However, there's optimism that the cloud cover will gradually disperse throughout the day, offering bright or sunny intervals. Nonetheless, scattered showers, potentially heavy, could prevail across Scotland, with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms."

Looking ahead to Monday, the spokesperson added, "Anticipate a wetter start to the day, but there's hope for drier periods in the afternoon. Nevertheless, heavy showers may persist."

While the rest of England and Wales are likely to experience predominantly dry conditions with intermittent sunny spells, there may be isolated showers.

Scotland and northern England, however, could witness heavy rainfall during the afternoon hours.

Traditionally, the average high for this period stands at 17°C, indicating that regions experiencing dry weather may see temperatures slightly above average.

Saturday's forecast suggests predominantly cloudy conditions from North Wales to Scotland, accompanied by occasional rainfall. Conversely, the southern regions of the UK are expected to remain dry and bright, albeit with the potential for heavy showers in the afternoon, particularly in London and the South East.

Overnight temperatures are expected to dip to approximately 4°C to 5°C in areas with clear skies, while regions under cloud cover may see temperatures around 8°C or 9°C in the north.

The lead-up to the Bank Holiday weekend witnessed thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across the UK, juxtaposed with the hottest days of the year so far experienced on Wednesday and Thursday.

Wednesday night saw an impressive 4,840 lightning strikes across France and southern Britain, as reported by the Met Office. The subsequent day marked the warmest of the year for all four home nations, with peak temperatures recorded in various regions, including Santon Downham in Suffolk and Kinlochewe and Achnagart in the north Highlands of Scotland.
