Ukrainian President Zelenskiy has expressed confidence that Ukraine and its Western allies could make Russia's defeat in the ongoing war in Ukraine "irreversible" this

year. During a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin, Zelenskiy thanked Germany for its military support in the conflict and said that now is the time to end the war and defeat the aggressor.

Ukraine is reportedly planning to launch counter-offensive operations in the coming weeks to retake territories from Russian forces, who invaded the country in February 2022. Zelenskiy said that while Ukraine is open to discussing outside peace initiatives, any plan must be based on Ukraine's proposals and not include territorial concessions to Russia, as Ukraine wants every inch of its land back.
