British Queen celebrates

Numerous Greggs bakeries across various regions of the UK have closed their doors, leaving disappointed customers in Manchester, London, Cardiff, and Newcastle. Reports indicate that the

closures are attributed to IT issues, with some locations only accepting cash payments.

Frustrated individuals took to social media to express their confusion and disappointment. One Cardiff resident questioned the closure of Greggs stores in the city, noting staff inside baking despite the "temporarily closed" signs. Similar sentiments echoed from Westminster to Newcastle, with concerns raised about the scope of the problem—whether it was localized or a nationwide issue.

In response to inquiries, Greggs acknowledged the situation, stating, "We are currently experiencing issues accepting payments in our shops. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible."

This disruption adds Greggs to the list of consumer giants facing IT challenges in the UK. Over the weekend, Tesco and Sainsbury's encountered issues, while McDonald's experienced outages on Friday. Sainsbury's specifically mentioned a "technical issue" affecting the majority of its online deliveries for that day.

Meanwhile, McDonald's customers in various countries, including the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Canada, reported difficulties in placing orders due to system failures. Photo by Unisouth, Wikimedia commons.
