British Queen celebrates

Fire investigators are currently looking into the cause of a devastating blaze that tore through the historic Crooked House pub in Himley, West Midlands. The fire occurred late on Saturday,

prompting an emergency response from firefighters and police who arrived at the scene at 10.45 pm.

The Crooked House, renowned as Britain's 'wonkiest pub,' had recently been sold to a private buyer by Marston's. A Facebook post from the pub on July 27 confirmed the sale, stating that it was unlikely to reopen as Marston's had sold the site for alternative use.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as the fire was brought under control by the swift action of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. Now, authorities are working diligently to determine the cause of the blaze, which occurred shortly after the change in ownership.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police issued an appeal for any information related to the incident. They encouraged anyone with relevant details to come forward and assist with the investigation. Reports can be made through their website or by calling 101, referencing incident number 761 of August 5. Alternatively, individuals can choose to remain anonymous and share information with Crimestoppers via their website.

As the investigation unfolds, the community and the pub's former patrons mourn the loss of this historic establishment, which held a unique place in the hearts of locals and visitors alike. Photo by Keith Myers, Wikimedia commons.
