British Queen celebrates

Victoria Coren Mitchell, the renowned TV presenter and host of the BBC quiz show Only Connect, has joyously announced the birth of her second child, June Violet Mitchell. The child is the

result of her loving partnership with comedian David Mitchell.

At the age of 51, Victoria Coren Mitchell welcomed her newest addition, a daughter, to join her older sister Barbara, who was born in 2015. The heartwarming news of the family's expansion came after Coren Mitchell posted an image of herself wearing a striking red cloak during Halloween celebrations.

Taking to social media on Wednesday, Coren Mitchell clarified the nature of her Halloween post, revealing that it was not a costume but a genuine reflection of her current situation. She explained that she recently gave birth to her second child, and her wardrobe had been temporarily overtaken by comfortable cloaks, as nothing else quite fit at the moment. Fortunately, the timing was fortuitous, as Only Connect, the TV show she hosts, is prerecorded. She expressed her best wishes for All Saints Day, coinciding with the announcement.

The news of their second child's birth was also shared in The Times on Wednesday. The statement read, "On 26th October 2023, to Victoria and David, a daughter, June Violet, sister to Barbara."

Victoria Coren Mitchell is well-known not only as a television presenter but also as a professional poker player. She and David Mitchell, who is celebrated for his role as Mark in the comedy sitcom Peep Show and his collaborations with Robert Webb, tied the knot in 2012. The couple's path to love began in 2007 when they met at Jonathan Ross's Halloween party, despite Victoria being in a different relationship at the time. Mitchell kept his deep feelings a secret, later confessing in his autobiography, Back Story, about the profound love he felt.

Throughout her pregnancy, Victoria Coren Mitchell had successfully maintained her privacy, keeping the special moment concealed from viewers and social media fans. Hints of her temporary sabbatical from her TV column for The Telegraph two weeks ago had suggested that she might be taking some time off for family reasons. Despite this, she continued to engage with her work, even hosting an episode of Have I Got News For You on BBC One in early October. Photo by Wikimedia commons.
