During the meeting, Starmer emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire and a diplomatic resolution to the crisis, according to a statement from his office on Friday.

Starmer expressed his condolences to Prime Minister Mikati for the recent loss of civilian lives, reaffirming the UK's concern over the escalating violence.
