The National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) has reported that 277 police officers have sustained injuries while responding to the violent unrest that erupted following the

Southport attack.

The injuries range from minor scratches and scrapes to more serious fractures and broken bones, with some officers requiring hospitalization.

A spokesperson for the NPCC stated, "Officers do not go to work to be assaulted or attacked, and such behavior is completely unacceptable. These incidents have a significant impact on our workforce, affecting their wellbeing and potentially leading to long-term psychological issues such as PTSD, which may emerge years later."

The NPCC emphasized that the wellbeing of their officers remains a top priority, particularly for those who were on the front lines during the violent disorder and protests. They plan to collaborate with staff associations and the National Police Wellbeing Service to support officers in their recovery, both physically and mentally. Photo by Rept0n1x, Wikimedia commons.
