British Queen celebrates

Ahead of Labour's manifesto launch, a poll conducted by Ipsos UK reveals that 41% of voters believe Labour’s policies will have a positive impact on the country, marking the highest

confidence level among all parties surveyed.

The poll, conducted from May 7-10 among 1,050 British adults, occurred before most parties had fully disclosed their manifestos. In contrast, only 20% of respondents thought the Conservative Party’s policies would make a positive difference, with 45% expressing concern that their plans could have a negative impact.

Labour maintains a lead across various policy areas according to the Ipsos poll, including a 22-point advantage on improving the NHS and an 11-point lead on addressing the cost of living. The narrowest margin, a five-point lead on managing the economy, is set to be a focal point in Labour’s manifesto launch.

Despite these policy strengths, confidence in Labour’s long-term vision for Britain is mixed. Only 40% of respondents expressed confidence in Labour’s plans, compared to 26% for the Conservatives. However, 51% indicated they lacked confidence in Labour’s long-term strategy.

Keiran Pedley, UK director of politics at Ipsos, commented: “Labour will take heart that they are perceived to have the best policies on key issues like the NHS and cost of living. Yet, there remains significant uncertainty about both parties’ long-term plans. With 45% of voters undecided, convincing them of a clear vision for the future will be crucial for both parties as they vie for support from undecided voters.” Photo by Rwendland, Wikimedia commons.
