British Queen celebrates

A demonstration took place on High Street in Erdington, Birmingham, on Saturday, where over 100 people gathered to protest against racism following an alleged racially motivated attack.

The protest was sparked by an incident on 17 May, involving a parking dispute during which a man, a woman, and a teenage boy were reportedly assaulted. According to police, the victims were "struck" during the altercation.

Five men, aged between 22 and 45, were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and racially aggravated assault. They have since been released on bail.

Bishop Dr. Desmond Jaddoo, speaking at the protest to BBC Midlands Today, condemned the incident as "totally unacceptable" and emphasized the need for stronger protections for black people through a civil rights act. "This isn’t playing the race card. Racial discrimination towards members of our community is a reality, and we now need to ensure this comes to an end," he stated.

West Midlands Police confirmed that they are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the specifics of the incident and identify those involved. They have appealed for witnesses to come forward with any information. Photo by Alan Spencer, Wikimedia commons.
