British Queen celebrates

Leicester City is on the hunt for a new manager for the first time in four years following the dismissal of Brendan Rodgers, as the club seeks to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The Foxes have suffered seven winless games across all competitions, including a late defeat against Crystal Palace that caused them to sink to the bottom three. While Rodgers led the team to two top-five finishes in the Premier League and their first-ever FA Cup success in 2021, the possibility of dropping into the Championship looms large.

Leicester chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha stated that the team’s performances and results this season had fallen short of expectations, and while continuity and stability were initially considered key, the board was compelled to take alternative action with 10 games remaining to protect their Premier League status.

“The task ahead of us in our final 10 games is clear. We now need to come together – fans, players and staff – and show the poise, quality and fight to secure our position as a Premier League club,” Srivaddhanaprabha said.

Alongside Rodgers, his assistant Chris Davies and first-team fitness coach Glen Driscoll have also departed the club. First-team coaches Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell will take over as caretakers, preparing the side for their upcoming match against Aston Villa on Tuesday.

Several names have already emerged as potential candidates for the managerial position, with Thomas Frank being the early bookmakers’ favorite to succeed Rodgers. However, Brentford is expected to resist any approach for their manager, who has a significant role in the club’s recruitment and strategy and is said to be committed to the project in west London.

Other names that have been linked with the role include Ange Postecoglou from Celtic, Rafa Benitez, who is currently unattached, Marcelo Bielsa, a former Leeds manager, and Mauricio Pochettino, an ex-Spurs boss.
