British Queen celebrates

The Prince of Wales conveyed his sense of pride for the Earthshot Prize team and the "fantastic" finalists leading up to the awards ceremony on Tuesday evening.

During a broadcast interview held at the base of the world-famous Supertrees in Gardens by the Bay, Singapore, Prince William shared his excitement about this year's winners and finalists, highlighting the positive impact of Earthshot in its first year.

The Earthshot Prize awards aim to recognize solutions for "healing" the planet and will grant £1 million to each of the five category winners to scale up their environmental initiatives.

William expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I'm thrilled to be in Singapore. It's fantastic, and we're now in the third year of Earthshot."

He went on to explain the significant achievements of Earthshot, "We've seen an incredible group of people emerge, and I believe that, from the first year, we can better quantify the impact. In the first year alone, we've had a positive impact on 1.5 million people. We've protected 1.2 billion hectares of ocean, upcycled 35,000 tonnes of waste and 40,000 tonnes of CO2. We're going to do more. That's just five finalists from the first year, so I'm really excited about this year's winners and finalists."

He also highlighted the growth of two companies from the previous year, emphasizing the importance of scaling up efforts, stating, "It's all about scale now, and my job is to bring in the capital and private sector to support Earthshot's solutions and ask, 'How can we do more?'"

The prince expressed his pride in the Earthshot team, emphasizing the organization's transformation from a mere concept into a reality over the past three years. He emphasized that Earthshot's mission is to create an impact and bring about change.

He concluded by recognizing the fantastic individuals leading the environmental charge and urged the importance of providing them with support over the next decade to amplify their already impressive impact. Photo by Office of U.S. Ambassador to U.K., Wikimedia commons.
